SOFT HEAD! A Rare Doll!
Type: #5 Body. Stamped On Her Back It Says: Chatty Cathy 1960 Chatty Baby 1961 By Mattel INC US Pat.3017187 Other US & Foreign Pats. Pend pat'd in Canada 1962
Voice Box: Hexagon grill. Doll has been repaired to talk. She says all 18 phrases, with little to no background noise. She is a loud and clear and very good talker.
Eyes: Original Clear Beautiful Blue decal Sleep Eyes. They open and close as they should. Her eyes are nice and even. Her lashes are mostly straight but are curled under on the ends..
Hair: Has Not Been Cut. Her hair is very thick and there are a few plugs missing here and there. She has nice long hair and bangs. Also the back center part has come undone.(the part for her pigtail) That inter weave needs to be redone. You can re-weave it but it does take time. It is a crisscross weave so her scalp will not show when she is in pigtails.. I just do not have the time to spend on re-weaving it. One good thing about that weave coming undone is that when you go to style her hair ... the hair in back will brush out and style much better because that distinct top to bottom part is gone, her hair just lays better in the back of her head without that part. Her hair has been washed and conditioned and has not been curled in most of the picture and curled in some. It does have factory curl left. She will come to you with her hair freshly washed and conditioned.
Face: All Original! She has very nice brown Brows and Freckles and has a pale yellow face color. Now I do not know for sure if the pale yellow color is from fading or she was made with a pale yellow face color, like her limbs. Her lips are all natural. No added color or make-up has been added to her face.
Arms: Both arms hold a Pose. No noticeable nicks or stains.
Legs: Both Legs Hold a Pose. Bottom of the back of the left leg has a small very light pink line about 1/2 inch long. The right leg has 2 pink pea size spots, another nickel size pink spot and quarter size white spot. These spots sound bad but they really are not that bad at all. Please see pictures on page #2. No other noticeable nicks or stains.
Hands: Both Hands Have All the Fingers. No noticeable nicks or stains.
Feet: Both Feet Have All Their Toes. Some very light pink on the bottom heals of both feet. No other noticeable nicks or stains.
Head: Soft Face, Turns As It Should.
Body: All seams are closed and look ok, her left side seam has a more jagged look because she had a cracked side seem when I bought her.. Her body is in excellent shape..
Over All Color: Arms and Legs are all the same color, a pale skin tone color. Body Is A Nice Peachy Color But Different From Arms and Legs. Head Is A Nice Tannish/Peachy Color.
Over All Condition: This doll is a very nice American "Soft Head doll, with Original blue, sleep, decal eyes. This doll is starting to get very rare. She is priced much lower than I would normally price a rare soft face redhead. The reason is... because her face is more of a pale yellow color, now I do not know for sure if the pale yellow color is from fading or she was made with the pale yellow color face, like her limbs. It's not gray like you will see on a lot of the soft head dolls, it is more of a pale yellow and so is the top of her head, so I am thinking she was made this way. Like a lot of the limbs will have the more pale yellow look to them. I have only had one other doll with this skin tone color so I am unsure about the color. Heck she could be a very rare doll I am just so unsure about her! Her face ISN'T GRAY but a more pale yellow than pink as is her limbs. I would of replaced her limbs but could not find another set that matched the color of her face so well but one of them does have a few spots on the back. She has nice brown freckles and brow. Her hair is very thick and it does have factory curl left but the back center weave has come undone, you can leave her like she is with her hair down and nobody will ever know but if you put her hair up in pigtails you will have to re-weave that center part first. Because of her face color and because of that center hair weave I have marked her price way down and am selling her the way she is. I paid 300 plus shipping for her naked and she didn't talk! So Yes, I am taking a loss on her. She's a very good loud and clear talker now! She has been cleaned inside and out she smells like a doll. She is a very rare nice doll that talks really good.
Clothes/Shoes If Any: I am selling this doll naked or you can buy the playschool outfit she has on, but the one you would be buying is the one still in the package, see picture on page #2. It's a 1998 remake of the 1960's playschool outfit. I will ship the un-opened outfit along with the doll. The cardboard has a bow so it will fit in her box without much trouble. I bought these outfits for 55 each and sold most of what I bought and had 2 left over so I am selling this one at a discount for $45 along with this doll. Age Of Doll: "For Newbies" Please remember this is a very old doll and it will have the wear and tear of any 50 year old doll. The doll is not new and is not being sold as a new doll. She may have light staining or discoloring on her body and limbs. Anything that I notice will be in her description. But if it is a small line like a 1/4 inch pencil or pen mark I will not mention it. These dolls are so old and all of them have been played with by little kids. So all of them will have some little thing wrong with them. Anything that is noticeable is always mentioned in her description. Please look close at all pictures. I am also going to tell you here (below) what to look for. You can use this list when you are buying from me or on eBay or anywhere you buy a doll. But Also remember that not everything will show up in a picture.

Also please remember these dolls are made of plastic and rubber and after years of kids playing with these dolls and people keeping these dolls in storage they can pick up and give off lots of different smells, so please do not keep her boxed up to long. My dolls have been cleaned inside and out from head to toe. My dolls are VERY, VERY, clean and smell like dolls.
